Part of our series of local collection of cane designs, the Peranakan Shophouses by Binary Style captures the opulence of the beautiful Peranakan Shophouses in Singapore.
The design inspiration behind this cane:
Peranakan culture is one of the heterogeneous identities of Singapore- this crossroads on the trade routes of diverse peoples and nations. Roaming around the Peranakan enclaves, one can still find the manifestations of the culture and opulence at its charming best. This design features the iconic Koon Seng Road shophouses with their intricately ornate facades and colourful Peranakan tiles that often bore motifs of fruits, flowers, and birds, that were considered auspicious in Chinese culture such as the peacock- Phoenix's earthly representation.
Designed in collaboration with Singapore's favourite scarf brand, Binary Style.
